Our Senior Primary curriculum is a dynamic one which is frequently reviewed to meet our children’s maturing emotional and academic needs. We are one of the few primary schools that offer French as a second additional language to Grade 6 and 7 children. Zulu is taught to all children in Grade 4 and 5. In Grade 6, children have the choice to do one of the following: Zulu, French, and Extra Maths, Extra English or a combination of the latter two. This caters for pupils who would benefit from extension and for those who require consolidation and reinforcement in Maths and English skills. In the Senior Primary phase children go on day and overnight excursions, adding further value and interest to their education. Throughout the year, all Grade 6 pupils are involved in social responsibility where English is taught as a second language to Grade 1-4 pupils at a school in Sweetwaters. A holistic education involves developing the child’s mind, body and heart! Specialist teachers teach subjects in Grade 6 and 7. A course in identifying children’s learning styles is available to all Grade 6 and 7 children; this has proved hugely beneficial to pupils who apply these skills to their learning.
